Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
This year’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure ® takes place on Saturday, May 13th at Bergfeld Park in Tyler. Founded in 1982, the organization launched the global fight in the battle against breast cancer. Since then, millions of people have benefited from the money raised through events like the Race for the Cure. Now is your chance to take part!
Since its founding over 30 years ago, the Susan G. Komen organization has raised more than $920 million toward research and an additional $2 billion in medical care, education, and support across the globe.
The event kicks off with a 7 a.m. breakfast for breast cancer survivors, followed by a 5K race at 8 a.m. The one-mile run/walk will start at 9 a.m. and the awards will take place at 9:45 a.m.
1.7 million people were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. 500,000 patients succumbed to breast cancer that same year. More than 40,000 diagnosed women and men are projected to pass away from breast cancer this year in the United States alone.
Taking part in the Race of the Cure is a great way to do your part in supporting an organization that helps support cancer patients when they need it most.
We here at Crown Kia of Tyler hope to see you at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this weekend.
