Explore the Arts through UT Tyler’s Arts in Education for Schools Program

Students in a Classroom

The University of Texas at Tyler believes that it’s never too early to start appreciating art. That’s why the university has set up the Arts in Education for Schools program at its Cowan Center. Through this program, young students in the Tyler area can enjoy a series of professional productions, and two of the most exciting shows are coming up next month.

The Ugly Duckling

“The Ugly Duckling” is a classic story with a wholesome lesson. UT Tyler is adapting Hans Christian Anderson’s tale as a modern stage production, and there’s nothing ugly about this show, as the ducks and swans are brought to life using lights and moving sculptures. Students and parents interested in this production can catch it on Friday, February 1 at 10 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.

The Magic School Bus

Students and parents likely remember taking a field trip with Ms. Frizzle via the classic “The Magic School Bus” books and television show. Now, those adventures are coming to life on stage in a brand new production from UT Tyler. Specifically, Ms. Frizzle and her class are taking the bus on an interplanetary trip to learn about the solar system. You can take a ride on the Magic School Bus on Tuesday, February 19 at 10 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. Here at Crown Kia of Tyler we’re excited to hear about these community events, which are just some of the many reasons why Tyler is such a great place to call home
